My name is Jillian Tackaberry, and I’m an abstract artist and designer living in Chicago, IL.

I am available for 2024 commissions.

As a self-taught artist, I created my first piece in my parents’ garage, using an old bed sheet that I dyed and painted with ink. This canvas — which I made to fill a blank wall in my dorm room — was the first time I created an art piece with its own identity. It featured the spirit of my notebook doodles on a new scale. This piece was the spark that became Eomykota. While studying design at UIC, I evolved my artistic style in my free time, creating tapestries that still hang in my home today.

A few years after graduating, I found renewed inspiration to create art with upcycled fabric, but this time with influence from my design background. Today, my artwork focuses on layering geometric compositions, creating dynamic color palettes, and exploring the unique properties of the fabric I use.

Eomykota, is a miscellany of color, texture, and reflection with the goal to bring new life to old textiles. Each piece of art is made from hand-dyed, upcycled fabric that is sewn together. The arrangements central to my work are reflective, colorful and geometric giving off an essence of playfulness and balance. Overall, Eomykota seeks to live in a moment of abstraction and reflection. A moment of escape to take in the purity of shapes, brushstrokes and colors.
