A Reflection of Nature in the City
Reflections on Nature in the city
Access to greenspace is essential for good health. Tree canopies help decrease air pollution and parks provide spaces that benefit the physical and mental health of the community , but green spaces are unevenly distributed in Chicago. Today our green spaces are “larger and more accessible in wealthier and predominantly white neighborhoods”. This piece is a reflection on the future of nature in our city. Geometric and organic forms represent the city built on a swamp, next to a beautiful deep blue lake, and the river painted atop connects everything together. How might we bring more nature into the future of our city to better the life of everyone who lives here?
